Let the Summer Begin!

Well I just finished my very first year of teaching full time, and it was amazing! Totally crazy but what an awesome year. I cried on the last day, so sad to say goodbye to my kiddos. I've had many of them for two years and now they're going to be in 2nd grade! It's crazy to think they're getting that old.
Everything is packed up and stacked up just waiting for me in the fall. It'll be time to move to another room and unpack it all again.

This summer we are doing just a few vacations, our big one is to Disneyland (SOOO excited) and then mostly to the coast, Bend, and Seattle. I am looking forward to some hot, sunny weather. I am crossing my fingers that we have a good summer and not a crappy one like last year where it didn't even get very hot. This first week is going to be organizing my office room, getting back on the work out schedule, and relaxing. Ahhhh. Looking forward to it.

Awesome Weekend

Well, Matt and I had a great end to my spring break. It was so much more fun hanging out at home with my man. We hung out in our pjs, went out to lunch, watched movies, and just had some great couple time. It was pretty friggin' fabulous.

I also started my first day back to work. The kids were great this morning, but this afternoon they just started to go bonkers. I think it's all the rain. I'm ready for the rain to be gone so we can have a proper spring with lots of sunshine. I am looking forward to riding my scooter more as the sun comes out. We're going to sell my old one this week.

Well, it's off to hang out with my man, eat some dinner and relax!

Spring Break Blues

Well no adventures this spring break for the Barton's. Here's an update:
Matt got a new fabulous job with EWEB. So new fabulous job means no PTO built up, so we had to cancel Vegas this time. I know we'll go again soon, but it's still disappointing when you've been planning a trip for months and then it gets canceled.
Instead of going to Vegas, I bought a new scooter for myself. It is a Kymco People 200S whom I've lovingly named Simore. I haven't been able to ride him very much this week, but I'm looking forward to as the weather gets nicer. We are selling Ramone and so we'll be back down to a two bike household.
This week has just been kicking it around the house, doing very little school work (even though I should do more), and having some me time. This is all well and good any other time when there is a day off of school, but when it's a vacation time, I wanna go on vacation! Or at least hang out at the house with my man.
I did go up to Seattle and hang out with my family. Spent all of Monday with my nephew, who was not too fond of Auntie Jacque by the end of the day. He just wanted grandma, or grandpa, or his parents, but not his auntie.
So it's off to start work next week. I'm looking forward to going back and seeing the kiddos. Just about 2 more months of school; I can't believe it.

First Motorcycle Ride and Full Week of 2012

Well it was a wonderful weekend of sickness and health. Matt and I were both sick on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday but were well enough to take the motorcycle out for our first short and cold ride of the year. We took it over to LCC so I could practice on it. I was a little shaky and need to take the motorcycle 2 course before going out on the open road all by myself. We found my dream bike at Ramsey Waite, but didn't act fast enough and someone already put a deposit on it. Boo. So I'm going to hold out and see what else comes up as the weather gets nicer.

Not only was it the first bike ride of the year, but also the first full week back to school. I know it's only Tuesday night, but on my goodness am I already tired. It's like the start of the school year all over again. The mornings are great and then right when they get in from lunch recess they are crazy. They're not used to being in school all day so I can tell they're tired and I still have to teach them things. Half the time in the afternoon they look at me like, "Mrs. Barton, why are you telling me this? I'm bored." And I just feel bad and I try to make it fun, but I can only do so much. My goodness.  They all came back from break and I just looked at them and they looked so much older; almost like 2nd graders already. It was crazy! They are getting so big and so smart. I'm such a proud teacher.
We'll see how the rest of the week goes. I'm excited for our MLK activities. It's just finding the time to do them. I'm loving first grade though and I'm so glad I did my student teaching in first grade because I have so many great materials. We did our Martin Luther King song, He Had A Dream, today and I'm excited to sing it all week. I think it will really help the kids remember what he stood for. Just like our golden rule, "Treat others the way you want to be treated."

I just love hearing the small things that they remember. It really puts a smile on my face to hear that they remember some of the more important things like the golden rule than how many combinations of 9 you can make. I love all of my little students, it is so awesome to see them grow everyday.
